AD: Qalam wa Lawh Arab Studies Center is pleased to announce new scholarships available for the intensive study of modern standard Arabic in the fall, winter and spring of 2010/2011. The Ibn Battuta Merit Scholarships aim to reward students for their excellence and dedication to the study of Arabic and to promote the study of Arabic as a foreign language. Prospective students can apply for any semester programs (fall 2010 or spring 2011), or with the winter schedule (December 2010-January 2011).AWARD VALUE: Scholarship covers all tuition and housing costs for the duration of the program (an approximate value of $ 3,715.00 for either the fall or spring semester programs, $ 1,250.00 for the winter program). Transportation to / from Morocco is the responsibility of the winners.
Duration of the programs:
FALL 2010: August 29, 2010-November 20, 2010 (240 contact hours, 12 credits)
WINTER SESSION 2010/2011: 12 December 2010 till January 16, 2011 (80 contact hours, 4 credits)
2011 Spring Semester: 1 February 2011-25 April 2011 (240 hours attendance, 12 credits)
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must write a 600-1000 word essay answering “What do you hope to achieve through his study of Arabic?” Applicants must have completed at least two semesters at the University or study Modern Standard Arabic equivalent (at least 80 contact hours). Applicants must have three written recommendations, including one or more of an Arabic Instructor / Professor. Applicants must submit transcripts classified documents earlier study Arabic.
